Ebonyi Information Commissioner Threatens Journalist in Abakaliki

Ebonyi state Commissioner for information and state orientation, Mr. Uchenna Orji, has threatened to effect the arrest of the publisher of fastlink newspaper, Mr Nelson Nwefuru and Ejike ikele of MCL television in Abakaliki the state capital, on account of alleged extortion.

The sad event took place at the Bishop's hall postoral centre in mile 50 Abakaliki, during a peaceful meeting with former Abakpa landlords whom their properties were marked for demolition and those their properties have been demolished already by the state government.

The meeting, which bwas chaired by the  senior special assistant to the Ebonyi state governor on religion and welfare matters, Rev. Fr. Abraham Nwali, and also doubles as the chairman of Christian association of Nigeria (CAN) Ebonyi state Chapter had in attendance the commissioner for information Mr Uchenna Orji and that of lands and survey Mr Emmanuel Uguru.

Ezeevibes gathered that drama insured between the duo,  when the media aide to Reverend Father Abraham Nwali, 
accused Mr Nelson of fastlink newspaper and Mr  Ikele of MCL  television for an alledged attempt to extort from Rev Father Abraham Nwali,

After a press conference, where the information commissioner made the none indegeneous landlords to accept that they are pleased to have their properties demolished for the purpose of developing the city of David while have them recorded by the state owned television.

On the account of the journalists, Mr Uchenna Orji was quoted to have accused Mr Nelson Nwefuru and Mr Ejike Ikele of MCL television as an illegal operators parading themselves as journalists.

"I have seen your faces, you. In several events within the state without you being invited or accredited by me,

"I don't know what give you journalists the right to be attending government events without invitation.

"This is the last time I will see you in events as such without invitation, next time I see you, I will arrest you" Mr Uchenna Orji said.

When Mr Nelson and Mr Ikele tried to talk to the said Commissioner politely, to clarify issues to him,

The commissioner added

"If you say anything again I will slap you here".

Recall that Mr Uchenna Orji had threatened to arrest the publisher of people's guide newspaper, comrade Isreal mbam, on may 2020, during the democracy day celebration because of mismanagement of information at his disposal by his handler whom he sent to represent him in an interview with Mr Israel Mbam to clerify the publishing company on why Ebonyi state intend not to celebrate 29th may democracy day.

The affected journalists expressed displeasure with the attitude of the information commissioner towards some journalists who are loyal to him as they described his attitude as show of shame and maintained that the commissioner is seeing himself to be incharge of journalists in Ebonyi state and not the NUJ chairman Mr Tony Nwizzi
